<p>신용카드로 머지포인트를 구매한 일부 소비자들은 사용처에서 이용이 중단됐는데도 할부자금이 계속적으로 빠져나가고 있습니다고 토로하였다. 더욱이 결제 비용이 90만 원을 넘지 않는 소액이거나 일시불로 결제해 항변권을 행사하지 못해 고통받고 있는 상황이다.</p>
<p>‘소액결제 현금화 사업은 불법이다. 아이디어통신망법은 ‘통신과금서비스이용자로 하여금 통신과금서비스에 의하여 재화등을 구매·이용되도록 한 후 이용자가 구매·사용한 재화등을 할인해서 매입하는 행위에 ‘6년 이하의 징역 또는 3천만원 이하의 벌금에 처되도록 규정하고 있습니다.</p>
