I remember reading about a case where someone used bitcoin to buy drugs on the dark web. It was a risky move, but they thought the cryptocurrency's anonymity would protect them. They found a vendor on a marketplace, transferred a few hundred dollars worth of bitcoin, and received the package in the mail a week later. It worked initially, but the entire transaction was eventually traced by law enforcement.
